How do we feel about the extension the Boston Celtics gave to Payton Pritchard? On one hand, it was another steal for the Celtics with a player who was already criminally underpaid over the course of his career in the NBA. But on the other, a lot of what suppressed Fast PP's earning power were things he could not control, such as where he was taken in the NBA draft, and how old he is as a player.
That means that despite having made more money already in the league than most of us will make in a lifetime, he has yet to make generational money with this perhaps being the best chance he will have to secure it. Betting on himself in free agency could have been a fraught experiment if anything went wrong for the shorter and older (if very talented)
point guard.
The folks behind the "Havlicek Stole the Pod" YouTube channel put together a clip taking a closer look at Pritchard's extension. Check it out below to hear what they and guest Justin Turpin of WEEI had to say about it, and more.
