Two way Boston Celtics big man Amari Williams could easily look at the stacked assortment of centers and forwards ahead of him in the rotation and be disheartened about the apparent lack of opportunity. But the Nottingham, United Kingdom native instead sees a different sort of opportunity in front of him with a similar path forward forged by teammate Neemias Queta.
"Seeing what he's done even from before I was here and when he was at his previous stops (at Utah State and with the Sacramento Kings) is definitely a journey that I can see myself doing and trying to follow," said Williams at the Celtics' 2026-27 Media Day proceedings.
As to how he planned on doing so, the British big man pointed to what he has been working on in his offseason work with
the Celtics this summer. "Confidence and learning (...)," said Williams.
"I feel like improved a lot, especially Neemi (Queta and) Luka (Garza), actually he was here too," explained the Boston big man. "I feel like I learned a lot from those three guys, and that definitely helped me to elevate my game."
"And playing in Maine to have game reps, it definitely helped me a lot and prepared me for when I was called up to play for the Celtics when you see someone like Neemi sign a big contract this offseason."
