The summer before last, we saw hints of a 3-point shot in international play from Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta, which then became an endangered species during the 2025-26 NBA regular season. The Portuguese center took 8 attempts all season long, making a single shot from beyond the arc.
Now, at Celtics training camp in Charleston, South Carolina, Queta let it slip he has been working on a jumper he hopes to deploy with Boston over the course of the coming campaign. "I think the preparation started with just getting spot shots during the summer, working on different forms, speeds, arches, and just getting a better feel for my shot," said the Lisbon native viaCLNS Media.
"I feel like we're going to see a little bit more of my shot just off
of the positioning we're going to have," he added, "and the comfortability I have in it, too."
"But we cannot stop expecting the same stuff I've been doing all over, which is rebounding, setting great screens," said Queta, "finishing around the paint."
"That's my bread and butter. If I can add the 3-point shot, let's do it, but I'm not living and dying by it."
