What can Hugo Gonzalez highlights tell us about his role with the Boston Celtics in the season ahead? The Madrid, Spain native had himself a very solid debut in his rookie campaign with the Celtics, averaging 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds across 14.6 minutes per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the field overall, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc, and (oddly, given his efficiency elsewhere) 50.0 percent from the free throw line.
We can see some weaknesses in his play that are to be expected from rookies, such as trying to do too much, missing defensive assignments, and struggling to let the game come to him. But one could also see improvement over the course of the campaign, as the hosts of the "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone
and Sam LaFrance, recent dug into in a recent episode of their show.
Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about Hugo González' potential with Boston based on what we saw from him last season.
