The Boston Celtics might lose their 2026 No. 40 pick Dillon Mitchell. Or at least that is the point of view of the hosts of the "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, who broke down why this really might end up happening after a key ruling on NCAA eligibility this week.
Mitchell could stand to make more money in the short term, but could also end up damaging his ties to the Celtics -- or even ending up on a poorly-run, rebuilding ball club where he might languish. He also runs the risk of injury derailing his NBA future. But on the other side of that coin is the possibility of the St. John's alum landing a regular roster spot with Boston with a promise to maximize his earning potential as a reasonable compromise.
