Was the trade of Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers a panic move? There have been hints coming from as high in the organization as majority owner Bill Chisholm that the idea to deal away the Georgia native not only to begin with but to a division rival and for an underwhelming move came from somewhere outside the usual way the Celtics tend to operate when it comes to such major moves.
But there is a very good chance that all of this could simply be the impact of the NBA's punitive collective bargaining agreement (CBA) hitting the Celtics exactly how it was designed to – perhaps with a dash of it being time to try something new given Boston's early exit from the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
