Dillon Mitchell considered going back to college to continue growing his game, but ultimately elected to sign with the team that drafted him in the second round this summer. And the stars and vets on Boston's roster like Jayson Tatum and Paul George certainly played a role in creating the sort of environment he has been honing his craft in since.
"It's awesome to sit back and watch them and really continue to work on my own self and the development," said Mitchell at his first Celtics Media Day. "It's really the biggest thing, it's something that I'm so excited about (that) I really look forward to continuing."
"It's the development, but I think the first part is really just sitting down and watching these guys hoop," he added, "and learning from
them is the best way to learn."
As to what he has been picking up since arriving in Boston, the Tampa native replied that "there's a lot" he's been learning with the Celtics. "Just the pace, the attitude, the way they come out," Mitchell explained.
"The toughness, the strength – there's so (many) different components that separate coming from college to this level, and they've been doing it for years. So to be able to watch them and learn from them is awesome."
