It continues to be a tough day for Boston Celtics players suiting up for their respective national teams with Neemias Queta and Portugal falling to the Republic of Georgia 98-90 soon after Hugo Gonzalez and Spain lost to Greece. A small silver lining in the defeat of Queta's Portuguese National Team was the fact that the Celtics center appeared to be fully recovered from whatever ailed his left leg in Portugal's last contest.
Starting in this FIBA EuroBasket tilt vs. the Georgian National Team, Queta put up a very healthy (pun intended) 20 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and 4 blocks in just under 30 minutes of floor time. The Lisbon native shot a sizzling 8-of-10 from the floor overall, 0-of-1 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-6 from the free
throw line.
With the loss, the Portuguese National team will fall to 4-4 in EuroBasket play, taking some of the wind out of their sails for the recent win over Spain.
Portugal will next take on the Ukrainian National team at a venue and location yet to be determined on Nov. 26, 2026.
And they will likely be doing so without the services of Queta, with the Utah State alum playing for Boston in the 2026-27 NBA regular season.
