Since being picked up by the team with the 38th overall selection of the 2023 NBA Draft, backup Boston Celtics forward Jordan Walsh has carved out a niche for himself with the Celtics on the defensive end of the court. But the DeSoto, Texas native has yet to establish himself as a key rotation player for Boston, his offensive skills not quite up to snuff at the NBA level.
Even so, that does not mean that Walsh plans to settle for the niche he has found with the Celtics, choosing instead to continue working on his game. “I want to be able to contribute, and I want to be able to create my own shots,” said Walsh in a recent interviewwith Celtics team reporter Taylor Snow.
And the Arkansas alum has a plan in mind for he is going to jump-start that
element of his bag: turn toward one of the NBA's best offensive players over the course of his career, new Boston forward Paul George.
"I got to meet with PG for a while in L.A.,” Walsh said. “And I’ve texted with him a couple (of) times saying, ‘Hey, when you get to Boston, let’s get a workout in. There are some things that I want to learn, especially now that I’m adding so many things to my game.'"
"'I want to add a mid-range pull-up, and you’re really good at that. So like, help me to get there,'" he continued. "And so just those conversations and doing the work together, that’s something huge that he brings to the team as a vet presence."
