The Boston Celtics have a trio of wings who head coach Joe Mazzulla will likely look to in order to help pick up the scoring slack created by the trade of star forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this offseason. Baylor Scheierman, Hugo Gonzalez, and Jordan Walsh will all be vying for a larger role than any of the three have had with Boston in the past – but at least for now, we are hearing that this threesome will be approaching that new reality as a unified front.
"I think all of us play a very important role in the system," said Walsh in a recent interviewwith NBC Sports Boston reporter Chris Forsberg earlier this month.
"I think all of us are very competitive in that role and trying to maximize it," added the Dallas native,
"because as we are competing against each other in a sense, we're also all still striving for the same things."
"So it's always support," said Walsh of a potential point of synergy – or contention, if it does not go as planned. But from the sounds of the Arkansas alum, that latter outcome is not the expectation.
"It's always love between us, it's always competition. I think that competition pushes everybody in a direction that makes all of us better. And I think that's what the Celtics see, because everybody does a little bit different things."
