The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.
Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle. Within the selections, the Vikings were projected to land Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy. The SEC star running back has been beat up in 2026, but his effectiveness is still undisputed.
Manzano explains the Lacy pick, writing, "The Vikings could use an upgrade at running back.
Aaron Jones will turn 32 in December and is getting the bulk of the carries this season with fellow veteran Jordan Mason on IR. The 5'11", 205-pound Lacy is a dangerous playmaker who possesses speed and quickness. He proved last year that he’s more than capable of being a three-down back, racking up 306 carries for 1,567 yards and a whopping 24 touchdowns. He’s averaging 4.9 yards per carry this season."
The Vikings have shown they will run the ball in 2026; can they do that the rest of the season and beyond? They need to, and doing it with Ke'Von Lacy moves that a long way.
