Jauan Jennings has yet to make an impact in his first season with the Minnesota Vikings. He has played in four of the team's five games, amassing only two catches for nine yards.
He was visibly frustrated on the sideline of last Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints, with cameras catching him pounding the Superdome turf. Speculation since then has fueled potential trade rumors as the Vikings approach their Week 6 bye.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler became the latest reporter to speculate that Jennings could be traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he played his first six seasons.
"Jauan Jennings is the forgotten man in Minnesota's passing attack," Fowler wrote. "He would fit well with any Shanahan-style scheme, which is much of the league
now."
The 49ers would make sense for Jennings, as he is familiar with them. But it'd be hard to imagine the Vikings being willing to part with Jennings this early in the season and send him to the only other undefeated team in the NFC.
Jennings still has time to settle into his role in the offense. Let's hope Kevin O'Connell can utilize him coming out of the bye week with an offense that should be much healthier than it was early in the season.
