What is the story about?

The J.J. McCarthy era ended Monday when the Minnesota Vikings traded him to the New York Giants in exchange for a fifth-round pick. General manager Nolan Teasley spoke to the media later that afternoon.

Although Teasley's time with McCarthy was limited, the GM told the media that he enjoyed his time with McCarthy.

"I think he was an important person to this organization," Teasley said. "I enjoyed my time getting to know J.J., I want the best for him, and I hope that he succeeds in the future."

That short time together may have made it easier for Teasley to trade McCarthy, though. Teasley was hired at the end of May, well after most major roster moves. By then, it already felt like McCarthy would, at best, be QB2.

Now, McCarthy begins a new chapter

with the Giants, where he will back up Jameis Winston. Minnesota will move forward with Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer.
