The story of former 10th overall pick J.J. McCarthy will draw mixed reactions among Minnesota Vikings fans. Some believed that, with time, he would become the franchise quarterback. Others believed his lack of development over two years didn't instill much confidence. As of this morning, both parties no longer have to argue.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that McCarthy has been traded to the New York Giants. New York made the move on the heels of losing Jaxson Dart to a season-ending knee injury, and a struggling performance by Jameis Winston yesterday.

The reports are that the Giants will be sending Minnesota
a 2027 fifth-round pick in return for the former Michigan Wolverine. That Michigan connection is not to be forgotten here, as Jim Harbaugh, the brother of Giants head coach John Harbaugh, was McCarthy's college coach. One can assume some calls and insight into acquiring him were made ahead of the move being finalized.
A fresh start is just what the doctor ordered for McCarthy, but this now puts immense pressure on Kyler Murray and Kevin O'Connell. Minnesota may be off to a 3-0 start, but they have the worst offense in the NFL through three weeks. This move has put the spotlight firmly on these two to make it work this season.
