As we are now in the month of October, teams are starting to emerge as who they will be for the season. The Vikings are a team that continues to surprise people through five weeks, but a lot is still left to unfold.
As we always do with the season going on and on, we took a look at power rankings heading into Week 6. The latest rankings are from Fox Sports and their writer Ralph Vacchiano. They ranked the Vikings 8th in their rankings following their rise to 5-0 after a road win against a tough New Orleans Saints team.
They explained the ranking, writing, "OK, Kyler Murray finally looked a little like the Kyler Murray of old. He wasn’t necessarily a dynamic passer, but he was very efficient and added a dash of dazzle with his legs. With the way
the Vikings' defense shut down the Saints (142 total yards!), they don’t really need much out of their offense to keep winning. So if Murray becomes Kevin O’Connell’s latest successful reclamation project, then maybe the 5-0 Vikings are for real. As it is, five games are enough of a sample to put them in the top 10 and keep them there through their well-deserved bye week. The offenses of the Colts, Lions and Bills pose some interesting challenges when they come back."
The rest of the NFC North shaped up as follows:
- Chicago Bears 10th
- Detroit Lions 14th
- Green Bay Packers 22nd
The Vikings will have a chance to rise up the rankings
