The skies opened up in Chicago, and it rained all game long. It made for less-than-ideal conditions, but the Minnesota Vikings went into Soldier Field and defeated the Chicago Bears 9-3. The defense did a good job slowing down this high-powered offense, while Minnesota's offense struggled to get going in the rain. Here are the studs and duds from the week two victory.
Stud: Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner is evolving right before our eyes. He came into this season under a tremendous amount of pressure, and he has been living up to expectations. Turner finished the day with nine QB pressures, five total tackles, four QB hits, and two sacks. His 3.0 sacks for the year are sure to be toward the top of the NFL when the week is up, and it has been a joy to watch.
Dud: Carson Wentz
Yes, it
was a monsoon in Chicago all game. Minnesota still threw the football 20 times, with Carson Wentz completing just 11 passes for 143 yards and zero touchdowns. Wentz looked to struggle gripping the ball in the conditions, and his deep balls lacked the juice to get there. He was also bailed out early, as Devin Bush dropped an easy interception.
Stud: Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks came into the day with little expectations based on his week one performance, but he put together a great performance. He finished with six total tackles, including a tackle for loss. The consistency in his game will come with time, but if this is the kind of performance we are already getting, the sky is the limit for the former Florida Gator.
Dud: Justin Jefferson
Drops and Justin Jefferson don't normally go in the same sentence. The weather played a major part in his pair of brutal drops, including one that would have been a first-quarter touchdown. As mentioned, Wentz did not play very well, causing Jefferson to get fewer looks. Hopefully, better weather next week against Tampa Bay can right the ship.
