The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup for the team and who they may add to the roster through the draft in a class that many are saying could be one of generational wealth.
Pro Football Network's Ian Cummings recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which goes three rounds. With this being a deeper mock than we have seen for most of the year, we wanted to break it down. The picks the Vikings landed in the mock were:
- Austin Simmons, QB, Missouri
- Bray Hubbard, S, Alabama
- Nate Frazier, RB, Georgia
- Earl Little Jr., S, Ohio State
Looking at the Austin Simmons pick, it came as a surprise, as we know he is having a strong 2026 season, but
we've never seen him in the first round. Cummings explains the Simmons pick, writing, "There’s still plenty of room for a wild card QB prospect to blast open the 2027 NFL Draft. Right now, the sample is too small to commit to any one option, but one QB who is on the rise in my mind after Week 2 is Missouri’s Austin Simmons. Simmons has yet to suit up in SEC play this year; that will be the big checkpoint. But against Kansas in Week 2, his tape was surprisingly high-level."
This would be a very fun class if it played out this way for the Vikings, especially the Frazier pick at running back. Lots of time though for more chaos to take shape before we have a better idea of how things will go.
