Minnesota Vikings fans have struggled to consistently make the playoffs in recent years, and success when they do has been hard to come by. In the last ten years, the Vikings have made the playoffs five times, but have just two playoff wins to speak of. With all the turnover on this roster this offseason, is making the playoffs going to be considered a successful season?
Kevin Seifert of ESPN has been covering the Vikings all preseason, and in the team's season preview, Seifert believes a playoff berth AND a playoff win will be the only indicator of a successful season:
This season is a success if ... they win a playoff game. Since hiring coach Kevin O'Connell in 2022, the Vikings have tied for the NFL's fifth-most regular-season victories (68)
and earned two postseason berths. They are 0-2 in those appearances. It's time to take the next step. -- Seifert
Should the expectation in Minnesota be to make the playoffs this season? Of course. Once you get to the dance, it's anyone's to win; why can't it be Minnesota? If Kyler Murray can stay healthy and play like his old self, there is a chance Minnesota has a successful season in 2026.
