The Minnesota Vikings enter their Week 7 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts looking to extend the league's longest winning streak. Since Week 14 of the 2025 season, the Vikings have won 10 straight games, building a 5-0 record going into last week's bye.
They face a 2-4 Indianapolis team that fired general manager Chris Ballard on Monday, one day after losing 26-20 to the previously winless Tennessee Titans. Head coach Shane Steichen is still employed, but the Colts feel combustible right now, with rumors of trading away star players like RB Jonathan Taylor and G Quenton Nelson swirling.
Minnesota can't afford to overlook Indianapolis if they want to keep pace with the 6-0 San Francisco 49ers. But this feels like an opportunity for the Vikings
to jump on an inferior team that is going through organizational changes.
Here are three bold predictions for the Vikings when they host the Colts at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday.
Jordan Mason will run for 100+ yards and 2 touchdowns
Jordan Mason appears to return to the lineup after missing the past four games with a thumb injury that landed him on injured reserve. Kevin O'Connell told Paul Allen on Tuesday that he expects to see Mason, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Christian Darrisaw back at practice on Wednesday. With Mason back, Minnesota can return to its 1-2 punch with Aaron Jones.
Indianapolis enters Week 7 as one of the league's worst run defenses. They rank 22nd in rushing yards allowed, but their 4.8 yards per run allowed is tied for 5th-worst in the league. Their 12.3% stuff-rate ranks 30th in the league, and they rank last in EPA/run allowed.
I expect the Vikings to stay committed to the run game and give Jones some relief after he carried the ball 85 times for 370 yards from Weeks 2 to 5. Mason averaged 3.5 yards after contact per carry in 2025, tied for 11th-best in the league among qualifying running backs. I see him breaking 100 yards and reaching the end zone twice on Sunday.
Jauan Jennings will catch a touchdown pass
Trade rumors swirled around Jauan Jennings in the days after Minnesota's 23-13 win over the Saints in Week 5. He was caught on camera slamming his fist into the ground following Myles Price's fumble that was returned for a touchdown. That came two plays after Jennings appeared to get open for a potential touchdown, but Murray instead threw an incompletion to Tai Felton. One play later, Murray slightly overthrew Jennings in the end zone.
Jennings has caught only two passes for nine yards this season, but the rumors of a potential trade seem to have died down. He's gotten open enough that he should be getting more targets, but look for him to find more separation downfield, with Justin Jefferson, Addison, and Hockenson potentially back this week. With extra attention on the other weapons on the field, Murray will make up for his red zone misses against the Saints.
The Vikings will sack Daniel Jones 5+ times and pick him off multiple times
This will be the first time Daniel Jones plays against the Vikings since spending the end of the 2024 season with them. He signed with the Colts last year and played well until a fractured fibula in Week 12 slowed him down, and an Achilles tear ended his season two weeks later. He completed 68% of his passes for 3,101 yards (8.1 yards per attempt), 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
Jones hasn't been as efficient this season, completing 59.6% of his passes and averaging 5.9 yards per attempt, with four touchdowns and six picks. He has been pressured on 42.1% of his dropbacks, tied for the league's 7th-highest mark.
Of course, no one pressures quarterbacks as much as Minnesota does. They have a league-high 47.8% quarterback pressure rate, spearheaded by a 67.0% blitz rate that is 24.5 percentage points higher than the next-closest team. Look for the Vikings to get after Jones all day and force him into turnovers.
