The Minnesota Vikings made it a point to improve their run game ahead of the 2026 season. They drafted linebackers and defensive linemen in Domonique Orange, Caleb Banks, and Jake Golday. All three have looked the part in various parts of the offseason, and they appear ready for their first test.
It was supposed to come in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers
, but things may have changed on that front.ESPN's Adam Schefter posted on social media, writing, "NFL is placing Packers RB Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner Exempt List. Last week, Jacobs was charged with battery and criminal damage to property, both misdemeanors, by the Brown County (Wis.) district attorney."
Jacobs had previously been charged in May on five counts, with one being a felony.
There is no timeline for his return at this time.
In his absence, the Vikings will likely face off against MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks. Both men have a combined 410 rushing yards in their careers. This should make for an easier test than the one Jacobs would've presented to the Vikings' defense.
