The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with a new quarterback. In the middle of a season where the team is undefeated, it may not make the most sense to draft a quarterback. However, Wilson sees the need at quarterback and gave them USC's Jayden Maiava.
Wilson explains the pick, writing, "He's been really good through six games.
He's one of the best anticipation throwers in the class, and his ability to layer balls to the second level is second to none. He would excel in a Kevin O'Connell system."
Maiava can be a project in the minds of some, but as Wilson points out, he could be a lot of fun in the Vikings' system. He has a live arm, can make throws to every level of the field, and it could be a breath of fresh air for their offense.
