A former Minnesota Vikings cornerback found himself being waived this past week. To his benefit, he was claimed off waivers by a team that is likely to play him sooner rather than later.
On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns claimed cornerback Mekhi Blackmon off waivers after he was placed on waivers by the Indianapolis Colts. He played in all 17 games for the Colts last season and started in 11 of them. He racked up 64 tackles, two interceptions, and seven passes defended.
He was traded from the Vikings to the Colts last preseason.
Blackmon now heads to the Browns, who are in need of depth at the cornerback position. He will likely be in the rotation and allow the unit to feel a bit better after seeing what happens when their secondary is thin in the preseason.
