Training camp is finally underway, which means dominoes are going to start falling day by day in the quarterback battle between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy. Early on, there are not likely to be many nuggets that we get from camp, but head coach Kevin O'Connell did throw the media one bone.
Sports Illustrated's Will Ragatz shared that O'Connell told the media on Tuesday, July 28, that they will be splitting first-team reps in camp early on.
Kevin O'Connell says both Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy will take reps with the first-team and second-team offense, as expected.

They're looking to see who can elevate those around them and run the offense with comfort.
The offense is built to elevate the quarterbacks, even if they are looking for that relationship
to be the other way. Both McCarthy and Murray are going to be with the best supporting cast and offensive line they have ever had. It may seem inconventional, but the offense will figure out the starter for the coaching staff by showing them who they work best with, not the other way around.
