The Minnesota Vikings have ruled out Kyler Murray for Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Carson Wentz will get the start in his place.
There was speculation throughout the week that Murray could progress through the concussion protocol and be cleared for the game after being limited in practice. However, Kevin O'Connell said he expects Murray to clear the protocol next week, putting the quarterback in line to start next Sunday at Tampa Bay.

This week, Wentz will look to build on a 133-yard, three-touchdown performance in Week 1 against a Bears defense that allowed Bryce Young to throw for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
Sunday will be Wentz's sixth start since joining the Vikings last August. Last year, Wentz led Minnesota to a 2-3 record, completing 65.1% of his passes for 1,216 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Wentz also helped bring Justin Jefferson back into the offense on Sunday. With Wentz at quarterback in 2025, Jefferson caught 34 passes for 477 yards, accounting for over 45% of his total yardage in the 17-game season.
We may never see Wentz return to his 2017 MVP level. But with under center, the Vikings can count on him to get the ball to their star receiver. And when that happens, Minnesota has a chance to compete.
