The Minnesota Vikings are 5-0, with an offense that has steadily improved over the last two weeks. Kyler Murray has started four of those games, although he was knocked out on the Vikings' third offensive series of their season opener against the Green Bay Packers.
If we consider only his full games, Murray is 3-0. According to NFL+ host Brett Kollmann, Murray has already won as many games as the Arizona Cardinals' other quarterbacks have since he tore his ACL in 2022.
"Craziest stat of the week is now that Kyler is 3-0 as a starter in Minnesota, he has the same number of winning starts as the Cardinals do with every other non-Kyler QB since his ACL tear.
His ACL tear was four years ago," Kollmann tweeted on Tuesday.
Arizona is 1-4 this season and
won only one game in 2025 after Murray was lost for the year with a foot injury. In 2023, the Cardinals went 1-8 in the nine games that Murray missed while still recovering from the ACL tear he suffered in Week 14 of 2022. Arizona didn't win any of their remaining four games of the 2022 season.
Murray's success, and the Cardinals' lack thereof, highlights why the Vikings signing him to a one-year, $1.3 million deal always made so much sense. Injuries derailed his career (27 missed starts from 2022 through 2025) in Arizona, where he went 38-48-1 in seven seasons, but he was never surrounded by an elite supporting cast.
In Minnesota, Murray is still getting comfortable with Kevin O'Connell's system. He's had some growing pains, but he finished 13/14 against the Dolphins in Week 4 and completed 24/30 passes last Sunday against the Saints.
Jacoby Brissett has been okay for the Cardinals, completing 66.3% of his passes for 1,110 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions, though he averages only 5.4 yards per attempt. Arizona hopes brighter days lie ahead as first-year head coach Mike LaFleur guides his team through a tough NFC West.
Murray didn't find success with the Cardinals for many reasons. Some of those faults were his own, but as we continue to see, the organization still has many issues that extend beyond the quarterback.
