The Minnesota Vikings quarterback competition is heating up now that training camp is here, and no one is backing down on social media from defending who they think should win the job. Through it all, the coaching staff has remained steadfast in their execution of this quarterback competition, while some on the outside consider it already Kyler Murray's job to lose.
Despite those predetermined thoughts by some, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell doesn't seem worried about making a decision anytime soon, it seems.
Speaking ahead of their night practice on Sunday, O'Connell gave his first true comments on the quarterback battle. He said, "Nothing has really changed from a standpoint of the timeline and things like that. So we'll see how the reps
continue to go and when we feel like we're at that place, we're going to make sure we communicate that both in house and internally and obviously to you guys as soon as possible."
He also added that he is surprised by where Murray is mentally in terms of handling his offensive system at this point in camp.
"I think mentally he's definitely probably ahead of where I thought."
The first preseason game should open this battle wide open and put someone in the driver's seat. Time will tell, but by next week things should have changed significantly.
