The Minnesota Vikings looked downright awful in the first half, and in the third quarter, they somehow looked even more lost. It all led to a fourth quarter that many people had expected to become a bloodbath for the Vikings, but instead, the defense and Brian Flores had other plans.
The defense said, "Fine, I will do it myself," and they were able to change the momentum completely in the game.
Everyone started making plays on defense while Brian Flores ended the game with a blitz rate of nearly 80%. The offense was able to capitalize on short fields, they didn't make mistakes, and everyone at every level of the roster was making plays. The end result was a 39-22 win for the Vikings, and it now has us buzzing heading into our post-game analysis.
That leads us to our next piece of analysis: Some overreactions coming out of the game.
Kyler Murray is going to THRIVE in this offense
If Carson Wentz can look the part in this offense, then why can't Kyler Murray? Wentz went for 12 for 19, gathered up 133 yards, and two touchdowns. He looked clunky at times, so the more athletic and limber Murray should be able to hold his own a bit better in this offense. Time will tell how quickly he bounces back from this scary concussion, but reports afterward seemed good based on how he was carrying himself and speaking with others. The sooner he is back, the sooner this offense explodes the way it is possible of.
Justin Jefferson will have double-digit touchdowns and over 1,400 receiving yards
Justin Jefferson is going to look like an All-Pro again in 2026. He showcased everything that made him elite in Week 1, and there is no reason he won't going forward either. He should be able to hit some milestone stats like I laid out above, and the end result should be everyone remembering how good he is.
Andrew Van Ginkel plays his way into another contract
Andrew Van Ginkel is playing in the final year of his contract with the Minnesota Vikings. In one week, he has already shown that he can play at a high level, he is born to play in this system, and extending him when the time is right makes sense. Even if it is just a one- or two-year deal, keep him around while he shows he has the juice.
