The Minnesota Vikings narrowly beat the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday by a score of 16-10. This marks their sixth win in a row to start the year, and they now sit as the final undefeated team in the NFL. The defense and run game carried this team, but what grade did the team earn from Sunday's performance?
John Breech of CBS Sports handed out the Week 7 grades and gave the Vikings a B-:
The Vikings have been riding their defense to victory all season, and this week was no different. Blake Cashman was the star against the Colts: He had two sacks, multiple QB hits and he led all players in the game with 12 tackles. Daniel Jones will probably be having nightmares about Cashman. When your defense is this dominant, you just need a small spark from your offense
to win games, and Minnesota got that from Kyler Murray in the fourth quarter. Murray totaled 80 yards in the final quarter, including a 35-yard run that set up a 5-yard TD pass to T.J. Hockenson that provided the game-winning points. The offense is still an issue, but it's been looking better every week, and that's what the Vikings need to see.
For what it's worth, Breech gave the Colts a C grade. B- seems fair, as the defense likely would have earned another A grade or higher, and the offense was probably around a C- or so.
Minnesota will get their shot to extend their undefeated streak this Sunday as they take on the Detroit Lions on the road at Ford Field.
