The quarterback position demands immediate performance and results to avoid negative talk or buildup. For the Vikings, Kyler Murray's play has been positive at times and negative during other stretches. He has failed to live up to expectations, and questions are now swirling about a change to Carson Wentz.
However, whenever the idea of acquiring a top, young talent at the position is possible, it is an avenue that should be explored. The latest version of this is centered around Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert.
Recently, Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame and Gilberto Manzano included the idea of a trade in their notebook breaking down several pieces of league news. Within the piece, they discussed the potential price it could take to get
him away from the Chargers.
They shared, "Still, a front-office executive told our Gilberto Manzano that a Herbert trade would need to include at least three first-round picks, along with other items, such as lower selections and/or established players. The executive pointed to the Deshaun Watson trade and the Bears-Panthers trade, which centered on the No. 1 pick in 2023 and ended up being the Bryce Young selection."
Any franchise would have to decide whether that's worth it. If you are the Vikings, do you pull the trigger on sending that offer to the Chargers with the potential of them saying yes?
