The Minnesota Vikings' defense came out to play and kept the Bears' offense from getting going. The weather made things messy, but the Vikings did just enough to let Will Reichard's leg do the work.
The weather did no team any favors, but the Vikings seemed to be led by their ground game and Aaron Jones Sr. He converted big plays when they needed him most. While they never found the endzone, without Jones and his shiftiness in space, this could have easily been a 3-0 win for the Bears.
With all those factors now laid out, we took a look at what grade CBS Sports gave the Vikings for Week 2.
Their writer, John Breech, gave the Vikings a "B" grade for their sloppy win in the rain. He explains the grade, writing, "When bad weather hits in the NFL,
the best way to win a game is with a tough defense and a strong running game and that's what the Vikings did on Sunday. With a torrential downpour falling in Chicago, the Vikings turned to Aaron Jones, who rushed for 105 yards to carry the offense. After that, the defense and special teams did the rest. The Vikings' pass rush had Caleb Williams on the run for most of the game before he went out with an injury. Dallas Turner came up big with two sacks, including one that sealed the win on the final play of the game. Will Reichard deserves a lot of credit for drilling three field goals in the rain, including a 49-yarder. The Vikings proved last year that you don't need great QB play to win games and they've once again proved that this season. The Vikings are now 2-0 with two division wins."
Week 3 will be another interesting matchup for the Vikings as they go against a winless Bucs team. Tampa Bay will have their backs against the wall but they will be playing with a chip on their shoulder.
