The Minnesota Vikings are bolstering their defense, signing linebacker/safety Jamal Adams, Jordan Schultz reported on Monday.
Schultz mentioned in a later tweet that Adams "liked the opportunity to have a chance to earn a role with a Brian Flores defense, which has a history of utilizing players like him."
Now the question is how Flores plans to use Adams. After playing his first eight seasons at safety, Adams moved to linebacker last year with the Raiders, starting four games and appearing in 17. He logged 448 snaps, generating a 67.3 PFF grade, fourth among qualifying Raiders defenders.

But the Vikings have question marks at safety, even if Harrison Smith returns for a 15th season. Could they try switching Adams back to safety? Or could he become the next "positionless" player in Flores' defense?
The move comes one night before veterans are set to report to camp. Rookies reported on Sunday, and quarterbacks arrived on Monday.
Adams is entering his ninth season. He was selected second-team All-Pro in 2018 and 2020 and was a first-team All-Pro in 2019. He has 22.5 career sacks, eight forced fumbles, and four career interceptions.
