The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 8 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
Pro Football Network's Jacob Infante recently released the latest 2027 NFL mock draft of the cycle, which has the team going with Georgia safety KJ Bolden.
Infante explains the Bolden pick, writing, "Harrison Smith returned to the Minnesota Vikings for a 15th NFL season, but they’re going to need to invest in the safety position with the long haul in mind sooner rather than later. The secondary, in general,
remains a major need, seeing as they didn’t invest much capital in what was considered a weakness on their defense in the 2026 NFL Draft. KJ Bolden is a versatile defensive back who can line up all over the defensive backfield and make plays, which speaks to his quick mental trigger. His coverage instincts are really impressive, demonstrating fluid hips, good longitudinal agility, proper form as a tackler, and range as a single-high safety."
Bolden would be a fun and seamless fit in the Vikings' defense. Brian Flores like smart, yet aggressive, safeties, and it would give him a new piece to center the Vikings' defense aorund.
