Minnesota Vikings tight end Josh Oliver left Sunday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a biceps injury. Unfortunately, the update provided on Monday wasn't encouraging.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Oliver suffered a torn biceps and will require surgery. He will miss significant time, and Fowler speculated that a return this regular season would be a "long shot." That potentially leaves the door open for Oliver to return if the Vikings make the playoffs.
Oliver's absence will be felt, as he played 74% of offensive snaps across three games. His 66.7 PFF grade ranked second on Minnesota's offense, and he's regarded as one of the league's best blocking tight ends.
Look for the Vikings to potentially add a tight end in the coming
days, as they likely place Oliver on injured reserve.
