With the NFL season kicking off tonight with a rematch of February's Super Bowl, it means we have finally gotten through the offseason and preseason. However, while we are done looking back, we are going to look forward because some folks already are.
NFL Media put together a list of the top free agents coming up next offseason when free agency opens in March. On that list were some Minnesota Vikings players who are notable playmakers at the moment.
Quarterback Kyler Murray and linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel made the list. Murray was ranked 12th on the list with Van Ginkel coming in at the 24th overall spot. They discussed the Murray ranking and looming free agency, writing, "This ranking is a hedge. Either Murray rejuvenates his career like Sam
Darnold in Minnesota and makes $45 million-plus per year or he slips into the realm of permanent bridge quarterback."
When it came to Van Ginkel, they focused on his fit within Brian Flores' system but now that unit isn't alone in operating that way.
"Van Ginkel might fit best in a Brian Flores-type defense, but a few more have popped up around the league to help his market value."
It will be an interesting offseason that will have us all exposed to the philosophy of Nolan Teasley for the first time. In Seattle, he appreciated a good blend of veteran and young players on both sides of the ball, so if both players show something in 2026, then perhaps they stick around.
