It was a second-half masterclass from the Minnesota Vikings, as they erased a 12-point, third-quarter deficit to defeat the Green Bay Packers 39-22. Brian Flores had Jordan Love in a blender, sacking him four times, and this defense caused a pair of turnovers. The offense did just enough to keep things lively, but they are going to need more from both sides of the ball as they travel to Chicago. Here are three bold predictions for week two's game against the Bears.
Dallas Turner records 1.5 sacks
The Chicago Bears offensive line improved this offseason, but had some hiccups against the Carolina Panthers. This group allowed 15 pressures, three quarterback hits, and two sacks. The relentless pressure that Flores is going to draw up could leave Caleb Williams panicking as the game
goes on, and that's where Dallas Turner comes in and wrecks shop, totaling 1.5 sacks on the day.
Chicago scores under 30 points
Ben Johnson said this offseason he wants this offense to be the highest-scoring in NFL history, and their 59-point performance on Sunday got them off to a great start. However, last season in their two matchups, Chicago scored 24 and 19 points, and I believe the trend of under 30 points continues. Flores is going to go deep into his bag of tricks to keep this offense guessing.
Carson Wentz throws for over 300 yards
Kind of a two-part prediction. Predicting that Kyler Murray will miss Sunday's game and that Carson Wentz torches this Bears secondary. Chicago gave up 361 passing yards to Bryce Young and his offense; just think of what Minnesota, with Wentz and Justin Jefferson and co., can do against this secondary. Jefferson looked like his old self last week, and we could get a repeat performance on Sunday.
