On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings came back from down 12 in the third quarter, scoring 29 unanswered points to beat the Green Bay Packers 39-22. They were able to storm back in that game due in large part to a Brian Flores masterclass in creative pressure, as he blitzed Jordan Love at an absurd rate, which is worth monitoring heading into next week's game.
Kevin Seifert of ESPN noted this trend to watch as NFL Nation was going through and giving their week one takeaways:
The Vikings blitzed Packers quarterback Jordan Love on nearly every first-half snap (15-of-18, or 83%), and Love burned them repeatedly en route to putting up 19 points. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores adjusted with more variety in the second half, taking down the blitz rate
to 63%. It wasn't the only reason the Packers struggled to score thereafter, but it made the blitzes the Vikings did execute more effective.
We know that Flores loves to bring pressure from all over the field, and he will need to be on his A+ game on Sunday, as the Minnesota Vikings take on the Chicago Bears on the road. Chicago defeated the Carolina Panthers 59-37 in week one.
