In a bizarre moment in Sunday's Week 4 matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins, linebacker Eric Wilson got tangled up with a Dolphins player and was blocked into referee Adrian Hill, who fell over. Wilson immediately tried to help Hill up, but the referee yelled at the linebacker to get back to the Vikings' huddle.
It was an over-the-top reaction to an accident, even if Hill didn't see Wilson was getting blocked into him. The play had been blown dead, but the ball was still snapped, and not everyone initially realized the play was stopped, leading to Wilson getting engaged with a blocker.
On Monday, the NFL announced it was suspending Hill for one game due to "unprofessional conduct toward a player", per Adam Schefter.
The NFL
confirmed today that line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games and referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game, each for an instance of unprofessional conduct toward a player in Sunday’s Arizona-New York Giants (Seeman) and Miami-Minnesota games…

The league also suspended line judge Jeff Seeman for two games who was caught on camera saying explicit language to Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride.
Fans often wonder whether officials are punished for their actions. On Monday, the NFL made an example out of Hill and Seeman. We will see if this affects how crews officiate in Week 5.
