The Minnesota Vikings' offense looked much better today as they traveled to New Orleans and beat the Saints 23-13. The defense did its part, limiting an offense that has been stellar in the second half. The Minnesota offense looked much better than last week, even though it had its own opportunities. Here are two winners and two losers from today's win.
Winner: Justin Jefferson
In his first game back home since 2020, Justin Jefferson looked like his old self. Jefferson totaled six receptions for 79 yards and an incredible touchdown reception. Jefferson and Kyler Murray's connection today looked sharp, and we will wait and see if they can continue to grow as the weeks go on.
Loser: Ball security
Myles Price has had a fumbling problem dating back to last season, and it bit the Vikings today.
He and Aaron Jones Sr. had fumbles in the red zone, cutting a pair of quality drives short before they could go and score. However, Price's fumble resulted in a scoop-and-score for New Orleans. You can guarantee ball security will be a focus point in practice this week.
Winner: Kyler Murray's mobility
We can understand why Murray would be hesitant to run upfield after the brutal week one concussion he suffered, costing him a game. However, we saw ten carries for Murray, resulting in 51 yards on the ground and extending drives. Let's hope this newfound confidence in scrambling continues in the weeks to come.
Loser: Kyler Murray doubters
Has the offense been outstanding this season? No. Is this one of the lower-scoring offenses in the league? Yes. But you cannot deny that Kyler Murray has looked good over the last two weeks. Sure, the pocket awareness still leaves you wanting to rip your hair out. But Murray, over the last two weeks, has thrown for 476 yards on a 76.5% completion percentage. The touchdowns will come, but limiting turnovers and getting the ball to his targets has been a relief to watch.
