The Minnesota Vikings went defense early and often in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, they did hit some key positions on offense, as their first offensive pick came in the third round when they selected Caleb Tiernan, an offensive tackle out of Northwestern. Tiernan suffered an ankle injury this preseason, but we have an update on his outlook as we inch closer to week one.
The staff over at ESPN went through every NFL rookie and gave an outlook on their rookie seasons, and for Tiernan, they believe some good news is on the way:
After spending the initial part of camp splitting between left and right tackle on the second unit, Tiernan struggled in the first preseason game and then suffered an ankle injury. He has been sidelined since, although he is
expected to be available for the regular season.
Depth along the offensive line is a must, and getting Tiernan back on the field will be great for his development. While his preseason performance left some to be desired, seeing live reps on the sidelines and working with Christian Darrisaw will be imperative as the season rolls on.
