The Minnesota Vikings are one of three unbeaten teams in the NFL entering Week 7, holding a 5-0 record. They face a 2-4 Indianapolis Colts team at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, after firing GM Chris Ballard last Monday and putting pressure on everyone in the organization.
A much-needed bye week helped the Vikings, allowing several offensive starters to get healthy and return to the lineup. Meanwhile, the Colts will be without CB Sauce Gardner and TE Tyler Warren in Sunday's matchup.
Still, ESPN's Seth Walder isn't ready to hand Minnesota their sixth victory of the season. He is still skeptical of Kyler Murray's fit in Kevin O'Connell's offense and believes this could be a prime game for an upset.
"The Colts will win. It doesn't make sense: The Vikings
are undefeated, and the Colts literally just fired their general manager," Walder wrote on Friday. "But football doesn't always make sense. And I can't get over the fact that the Vikings have recorded a minus-0.09 EPA per play with QB Kyler Murray on the field this season. One of these games, Flores' defense won't be able to secure a win on its own."
That would be a crucial blow to Minnesota as a brutal four-game stretch awaits them. Next week, they face the Detroit Lions on the road. Then they return home against the Buffalo Bills, travel to Lambeau Field to play the Green Bay Packers, and then head to Mexico City for a showdown with the San Francisco 49ers.
Sunday's game may not solidify the Vikings as a powerhouse, but it will provide breathing room heading into a crucial part of the schedule. Hopefully, Minnesota isn't overlooking this desperate Colts squad.
