Another year, another new magically created statistic to track by the folks over at PFF. Just when you think there are no more stats to make up and attach some form of value to, they launch something called the BTT-to-TWP ratio. What is the BTT-to-TWP ratio? It stands for big-time throw-to-turnover-worthy-play ratio, if that's something you want to deem important to you.
Well, Mark Chichester of PFF went through and ranked NFL quarterbacks based on the BTT-to-TWP ratio, and former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins ranks sixth in the NFL at 1.80, just ahead of Aaron Rodgers and just behind Josh Allen.
Cousins made this list largely because of how well he protected the football. His 1.7% turnover-worthy play rate ranked third-lowest in the NFL,
but he produced just nine big-time throws in 10 games. His 3.2% big-time throw rate was the lowest among this group by a wide margin.
The conversation about PFF and whether anyone takes statistics like the BTT-to-TWP ratio seriously can be tabled for now and brought up at a future date. For now, we stare in amazement at the fact that we have yet another statistic to listen to regarding quarterbacks.
