Earlier this week, it came down from The Ringer's Tom Pelissero when he reported that the Vikings were trading away J.J. McCarthy. Minnesota sent him to the New York Giants in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick, which shows that the value of the former top pick has fallen off over the years since he was drafted.
Despite the lack of return on investment, the Giants seem to be happy with what they received in the trade. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy said the team has been "impressed" by him in practices thus far.

The team made the trade following two dominoes. One was that starter Jaxson Dart went down
with an MCL injury and was ruled out for the season. The second was the play of Jameis Winston in Week 3, as McCarthy is now projected by some to potentially start down the line for the Giants.
