The Minnesota Vikings had their most complete day on offense in Sunday's 23-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Led by Kyler Murray, who completed 24/30 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown, the Vikings racked up a season-high 364 total yards in Week 5.
Skepticism still surrounds Minnesota, one of only two 5-0 teams entering Week 6. The Vikings' defense is among the league's best, but the offense has been mostly ineffective through the first four weeks of the season. Can Murray continue building on his strong game against the Saints?
If he can, Minnesota can compete for the Super Bowl, says CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles.
This was by far his best performance in Minnesota, and it makes sense considering he suffered a concussion in Week 1. The Vikings'
ground game also had its best day, a byproduct of not only Murray's running but the threat of his running.
Murray doesn't have to be great. But if he can take care of the ball, find Jefferson — who made some spectacular catches — and make a few timely plays, this is a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
The Vikings still have a way to go before even thinking about the Super Bowl. They face the Colts and Lions after their bye week, then face the Bills in a Monday night clash on November 9. Two weeks later, the Vikings will head to Mexico City to take on the 49ers in a matchup with massive playoff implications.
Minnesota's defense may match up well against Buffalo and San Francisco. But to pull off the victories and other wins in between and after, they will need Murray to continue playing as he did against New Orleans on Sunday.
