Being a quarterback in the NFL is the toughest job in sports. It requires a mental skill set that no other position in sports requires, not to mention the physical toll it takes, and it leads to players fizzling out and losing starting jobs quite often.
Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon looked over the starting quarterbacks in the NFL at the moment to see who could be at risk of losing their job and when. One of the quarterbacks discussed was former Vikings quarterback and current Indianapolis Colts starter, Daniel Jones.
Gagnon predicts he could be replaced as the starter by Week 17, writing, "...With the Colts likely eliminated from playoff contention and facing a potentially favorable matchup. Indianapolis paid Jones in the offseason and will likely give
him every opportunity to make this work before potentially giving Richardson another audition. That assumes neither quarterback is traded in the coming weeks."
Daniel Jones left the Vikings after one season and found immediate success with the Colts. He signed a two-year extension in March but has not played up to the numbers he is earning on said deal. After the firing of general manager Chris Ballard, his footing is more unstable than ever, so a Week 17 projection may prove right.
