We are roughly halfway through an incredible college football season, so why not go ahead and revamp and update the positional rankings for the 2027 NFL Draft? There has been a ton of movement up and down the boards so far this season, and we are going to bring you every position over the next couple of days, starting with the quarterback position.
This year was supposed to be the next golden age at quarterback. However, a handful of the top prospects coming into the year have simply not delivered on the biggest stage, causing there to be a new consensus top quarterback in the class.
Let's take a look:
- 1) Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State
- 2) Dante Moore, Oregon
- 3) CJ Carr, Notre Dame
- 4) LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
- 5) Arch Manning, Texas
- 6) Jayden Maiava, USC
- 7) Darian Mensah, Miami
- 8) Julian Sayin, Ohio State
- 9) Drake Lindsey, Minnesota
- 10) Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss
Just a couple of quick notes on the rankings before we move on to the running back rankings. I believe that Arch Manning returns for one more year,
and if he were smart, he would transfer from Texas. Steve Sarkisian has shown now that he can not develop quarterbacks, and if Arch wants to regain his hype, a change of scenery is needed.
Drew Mestemaker is going to go first overall in the draft, should he declare. Are we sure that he wouldn't want to run it back for one more year with a potentially reloaded Oklahoma State team?
LaNorris Sellers, Jayden Maiava, and Drake Lindsey are going to climb boards in a major way in the offseason. All three guys have tools that scouting departments will fall in love with, and could see all three guys go before the third round.
Trinidad Chambliss is going to get an NFL GM fired within three years if they take him early. He's shown a lack of desire to play at the next level, so why should a team trust that he's going to give his all?
If Manning stays, the race for the top quarterback spot belongs to CJ Carr and Dante Moore. Carr has the higher ceiling than Moore, but Moore brings a higher floor, so who picks at the top will steer this conversation one way or another.
