Whoever wears the green dot for the defense needs to be the smartest player on defense. Someone who can command the team and give out directions and assignments. This is normally reserved for linebackers, and getting a talented one is vital to a team's success. The 2027 NFL Draft has a few big names, but the talent falls off in the later rounds.
Let's talk about it:
- 1) Chris Cole, Georgia
- 2) Kyngstonn Vilaamu-Asa, Notre Dame
- 3) Rasheem Biles, Texas
- 4) Suntarine Perkins, Ole Miss
- 5) Sammy Brown, Clemson
- 6) Whit Weeks, LSU
- 7) Christian Alliegro, Ohio State
- 8) Ben Roberts, Texas Tech
- 9) Tony Rojas, Penn State
- 10) Amare Campbell, Tennessee
Chris Cole, Kyngstonn Vilaamu-Asa, and Rasheem Biles are going to be producers early in their NFL careers, and will hear their names go in the first two rounds. From there, you take fliers on Suntarine Perkins and Sammy Brown for their physical abilities. The rest of this list is served only for depth pieces, probably to be rotational linebackers who can step in for injuries or excel
on special teams.
