J.J. McCarthy, the former 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, was traded to the New York Giants for a 2027 fifth-round pick. This stirred up a lot of talk among fans, with opinions split. Some believe that Minnesota gave up too early on McCarthy, while others are glad the franchise got some form of value out of him. The locker room is starting to give its thoughts, as well.
While speaking to the media following a practice, offensive tackle Brian O'Neill gave his thoughts on the McCarthy trade:
“He’s seen a lot of examples of it’s not always linear. I know he’s made of the right stuff. I have no doubt he’s gonna have a bright future in this league.”

Could J.J. McCarthy develop and have a bright future in the NFL as O'Neill believes? Of course. Is that future harder to see now than it was before while McCarthy was in Minnesota? Of course. McCarthy went from being QB3 to being QB3, now with an even worse path to starting, once Jaxson Dart returns next season.
