Coming out of Oklahoma, the biggest selling point of quarterback Kyler Murray was his mobility. We saw him rush for almost 1500 yards in two seasons as a starter, and that carried over to his time in Arizona. Murray has nearly eclipsed 3,200 rushing yards in seven NFL seasons, and that puts him in rare air as we enter week one of the 2026 NFL season.
The research team over at ESPN pointed this out in Minnesota's team preview for 2026 as their QB stat to know:
QB stat to know: Murray is one of five players in NFL history with 20,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in his first seven seasons, along with Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson and Cam Newton. However, Murray has played in 41 of a possible 68 games in the past four seasons (60%)
after he played in 46 of 49 games in his first three seasons (94%). -- ESPN Research
Health will be a major question mark for Murray in 2026, as he struggled to stay healthy the last few seasons. However, if he stays healthy for all 17 games this season, we could see this offense take the next step and spearhead Minnesota's return to the playoffs.
