Jennie Baranczyk and Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball continue to reload. Top-40 2027 recruit Destiny Manyawu announced her commitment to Oklahoma on Sunday. Manyawu is a 6-foot-2 forward from Kansas City (Mo.) Staley High School. The forward chose the Sooners over others such as Michigan, Duke, Iowa, and many others.
Manyawu is a consensus four-star recruit. According to Rivals, she is the top-ranked player in Missouri, the No. 8-ranked forward, and the No. 31 overall recruit nationally. 247Sports also has her as the top player in Missouri but ranks her a bit lower in the 2027 class. There, she comes in as the No. 9-ranked forward and No. 36 nationally. ESPN rates her as the No. 43 overall prospect in the class.

According to MaxPreps, Manyawu led Staley High School to a 29-3 record in the 2025-26 season. She is Oklahoma’s second commit in the 2027 class, joining 6-foot guard Finley Chastain, who is also a top 40 recruit. Chastain committed to Oklahoma last year.
Manyawu chose Oklahoma as the group is coming off a Sweet 16 appearance last season. The Sooners return seven players from that squad. They’re led by reigning ESPN National Freshman of the Year Aaliyah Chavez and 2026 FIBA gold medalist Sahara Williams.
Manawu posted a video to her Instagram on Sunday announcing her decision to the rest of the team ahead of practice. She was embraced by the team and Baranczyk with a group hug.
