Trell Harris wasn't available for spring football after an offseason procedure stemming from an injury he played with during the 2025 season at Virginia. He was limited to individual drills to start fall camp, but he's starting to show up for the Oklahoma Sooners in team work.
Speaking with the media late last week, Venables made sure to mention the impact Harris is having on the Sooners' offense.
"He got behind the defense and made an explosive play down the field today," Venables said of Harris. "That was great to see. Making competitive plays when there’s turbulence."
Harris joined the Sooners after an All-ACC season for the Virginia Cavaliers. He led Virginia with 59 receptions, 847 yards, and five touchdowns. 61% of his receptions went for first
downs. Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith had 63% of his receptions go for first downs in 2025.
Among 61 Power Four wide receivers with at least 78 targets, Harris was No. 16 in NFL passer rating.
Harris is a dynamic player who will be a huge asset for the Sooners at every level of the passing game. With Isaiah Sategna and Parker Livingstone on the field along with Harris, opposing defenses are going to have a difficult time knowing where to focus their attention. And that's going to create a number of big plays in the passing game.
